Experience, Perspective & STEM Expertise

I founded STEM College Consulting, LLC to help students identify and pursue meaningful academic and extracurricular interests and translate those experiences into thoughtful college choices and strong applications.

My particular focus is STEM. I work with students interested in areas ranging from engineering, computer science and mathematics to scientific research, medicine and other interdisciplinary STEM fields. I help students explore opportunities such as research, summer programs, competitions, internships, college-level coursework, community service and independent projects while also guiding them through the broader college admissions process.

My interest in STEM education began while raising my three children. Their interests included robotics, coding, 3-D printing, mathematics, tissue engineering, neuroscience and biomedical research. I spent years identifying programs, courses, competitions and other opportunities that would allow them to explore those interests in greater depth. They ultimately attended MIT, Columbia and Caltech.

That experience continues to shape my work today. Strong college planning is not simply about building an impressive list of activities. It is about helping students discover what genuinely interests them, pursue those interests with increasing depth and identify colleges where they can continue to grow.

Professional Background & Credentials

Before becoming an independent educational consultant, I practiced real estate law in New York City. I earned my A.B. in Economics from Smith College and my J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. I later completed the College Counseling Certificate program through UCLA Extension.

I am an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and previously served as Co-Chair of IECA’s Long Island Regional Group. I regularly participate in professional conferences, admissions programs and college visits so that my advice reflects current admissions practices and firsthand knowledge of colleges and universities.

I have visited more than 70 colleges across the country, paying particular attention to engineering programs, science departments, research opportunities, laboratories, maker spaces and other resources that are especially relevant to STEM students.

A Personal, Hands-On Approach

My practice is intentionally personal. When a family hires STEM College Consulting, they work directly with me throughout the planning and application process. I take the time to understand each student's academic history, interests, strengths and goals and provide individualized guidance rather than a standardized formula.

I have particular experience advising academically strong students considering selective and highly selective colleges and universities, while always focusing first on finding institutions that are a strong academic and personal fit. STEM College Consulting is based in Garden City, New York, and works with students and families both locally and beyond New York.
